Le Mahzen Chocolatier & Coffee at 239 High Rd in London’s E18 area offers a cozy escape for anyone looking to enjoy quality coffee and thoughtfully crafted chocolate treats. This café feels like an intimate local spot where you can settle in for a slow morning or a relaxed afternoon break.

Inside, the space is warmly inviting with a design that subtly merges modern comfort with a touch of artisanal charm, making it easy to unwind whether you’re meeting a friend or working quietly. The air conditioning makes it a refreshing choice on warmer days, appreciated by group visitors and solo patrons alike.

The menu here leans heavily into chocolate — not just in desserts but also in drinks. The dark chocolate hot chocolate and fondue stand out as signature experiences, though those seeking a classic coffee fix won’t be disappointed. Cappuccinos receive consistent praise for their careful preparation, and Turkish coffee adds an extra layer of character to the beverage lineup.

If you’re popping in during the day, it’s a good spot to enjoy a croissant sandwich or a bagel, which serve well for a light lunch or substantial snack paired with iced or hot coffee. Desserts like the Basque cheesecake and gelato offer something special for those with a sweet tooth and complement the chocolate theme seamlessly. Customers often mention the cheesecake as notably smooth and creamy, an indulgence worth trying.

Le Mahzen works well both as a quiet spot to linger over a cappuccino and a chocolate fondue, and as a casual gathering place where friendly staff and the family-run nature bring a comfortable, community vibe. Weekends tend to attract regulars looking for a familiar and relaxed setting, while weekdays accommodate those needing a brief pause from the daily grind.

Overall, this café suits chocolate lovers and coffee aficionados who appreciate carefully sourced flavors and a setting that encourages slowing down. It’s a place where the details in drink and dessert preparation invite visitors to return and explore beyond the usual café routine.

This place was cute and cosy. I liked the basque cheesecake, the milk chocolate was amazing with it. Cappuccino was good too but wasn’t a fan of the hot chocolate. Definitely want to go back to try other items

This café is hands down one of my absolute favourites. The ambience is warm, welcoming, and has such a lovely charm that makes you want to linger for hours. The food is consistently incredible, fresh, full of flavour, and beautifully presented. Their cheesecake deserves a special mention, it is honestly the best I’ve ever had. Light, creamy, and melt-in-the-mouth perfection. I would come here just for that alone! What really makes the place stand out though is the main guy who runs it. He is absolutely brilliant and attentive. Looking forward to coming back again.

Went for lunch as a group of 4. Had a very tasty bagel and a very good sized iced latte. The AC was a comfortable touch especially on a very hot day. Service was excellent.

One of the most beautifully designed cafes I’ve visited! Once you enter, the deco immediately catches your attention and you get this relaxed feeling/vibe. What we ordered: 2x slices of cheese cakes (4.9/5) - I can’t remember the last time a cheese cake tasted this good! Cappuccino (4.7/5) - It was a work of art, tasted like how a cappuccino is supposed to! I’d recommend getting a scoop of ice cream (pistachio) to go with the cheese cake. A true game changer

A beautiful family run business serving great coffee and sensational desserts in a super cozy environment. I personally enjoy the fondue with dark chocolate - my wife is obsessed with the cheesecake. The owners who run the place are friendly, professional and truly part of the local community. Can’t stop going back every weekend. Highly recommend ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

I can say it’s the most delicious burnt cheesecake I’ve ever had, and with the other marvellous chocolate desserts on the menu, it’s really hard to decide — but I’m sure you won’t regret any choice you make! You’re amazing, Burçin and Ahmet.

We got the brownie, iced Americano, and cappuccino and we loved them all. The brownie was fresh, warm and perfectly made. We also really liked the coffees, which were Monmouth coffees. They were absolutely top-notch. Also, the owners were very attentive and kind. Thank you so much.
